This. Hero battles just aren't much fun for most people, but comes with rewards that some people will collaborate to acquire. Rolling has nothing to do with the actual HB competition that a few hundred players (I assume) enjoy. A (bad) superficial change will do nothing to address the issue that people want & can get the rewards but don't like the format.

OP you say you want to play the game your way but that's not up to you, you pay for the privilege of playing anets game, they make the decisions, they make the rules, they put all the time into making changes to make there game play there way.
It's not always good for the community but if you tried to change something in someone else's house then im pretty sure you would be kicked out so we just gotta deal with it.

Oh come on, don't tell me you didn't read the opening post properly either. I said it wasn't that big of a deal. I just think its absolutely mindbogglingly ridiculous that some of my fun in GvG is being removed for something that is overpowered in HB; the most terrible game mode in guild wars.

Funny how 90% of the posters in this thread completely ignore my arguments. Man, I knew PvErs were stupid but I never expected this thickness of skull.

Just quit GW. How simple is that. How could U whine about an exploit being removed?? It's like QQing after duping was gone..Get real or quit.

is there a server people are doing rps in? I have absolutely no desire to partake in the abomination that is hero battles, but would like to get some easy coins for the otherwise incredibly grindy packs. American people weren't doing this in.

Think of a new way to have fun, stop whining. If Your idea of /roll was to find out who had the biggest penis, i am glad they killed the /roll feature in PvP. As per the random items in HoH, pick them all up, afterwards go to an explorable area, /roll, is that so hard ?!?

For reasons other than simply rolling, i'm actually really sad that /roll has been disabled.

Now i don't have the liberty to reply "no" to a roller with the intention of farming them all day long. Sigh...

Yeah, but you have the right idea. The whole thing is screwed up on a basic game design level.

I'm with you Kaon! Anet have been abusing us players for too long! They've been keeping us down!

Rebel! Rebel!

But seriously, while I can't think of a reason to keep /roll there (like others have said it can be done with r/p/s if your that bored while waiting for matches), I can't find a reason for them to have taken it out of everything either.

Really, while I don;t want content randomly taken out, I don't think it really warrents a QQ thread.

They are even bigger morons for getting rid of the only reason to actually play HB. Nice job, keep making your game suck more. Ka na? Baka.

Anet are morons for implementing shrine capturing with hero flags. It is a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing retarded game mechanic and hardly a measure of player skill, just whoever can create the most usefull AI build and flag them most effectively.

HB = Retarded. HA was also killed by Anets own ridiculous changes (6v6 anyone? Game ruining mechanic changes?). RA was killed with dishonour and /report. If you go to RA today, you will find more people there then anywhere else that get themselves off on abusing the /report feature for the fun of it, but obviously looking for legitimate cases so that they dont get in trouble and then they can rofflelmao over their superior ability to get people banned just for the fun of it.

Anet do not make the best ideas for this game, everytime they try to fix something, or add in something new, they usually break it even more.

So, they removed /roll. So what? Red team leaves is bloody marvelous and even more broken, and it isnt any kind of manipulation when you just leave for being on the red team.

Next update - Lame dishonour added to HB, if it isnt already there, but I dont think it is.

Many more people enjoy being able to just leave whenever they want in GW's PVP, than people who enjoy playing a full game of a broken and lame PVP mechanic. That is saying that the arena sucks, hardly anyone actually enjoys it, and it needs to be reworked, but oh no, please dont allow Anet to do anything about it, because they will just ruin it even more.

They have done one great thing for the game right now though, and that is Z coins. Anet figured out a long time ago that they suck horribly at making and keeping a balanced game fun to play, so they added in all their junk like consumables / PVE skills / Z chest and now Z coins to keep the game interesting and to attract a larger 'grinder' community, rather than a community that actually justs wants to play and enjoy a balanced game.

In simpler words, every problem in this game is due to the fault of Anet and their inability to keep the game enjoyable without ruining it more and more by simply adding MOAR GRINDZORZZZ!!!!!.

Red team leaves is much more fun than HB is, because GW is now full of a grinder community, created purely because Anet continuosly added more and more grind into the game. When people want to grind for points, they will look for the shortest way possible to do this, and Hero commander title track and Z coins are always going to be treated as grind commodities rather then playing full games of HB.

Dont blame the player base for this, when this is the game that we have been given.

LETS ALL SAY IT TOGETHER, ONE AND ALL .... MOOOAAAARRRR GRRIIIINND ANET PLOX !!!! MOOOOAAAARRRR GRIND, WE WANT, YOU GIVE US ..... (That is intended to be sarcasm, because no one wanted grind added to GW, Anet just decided to keep on throwing in more and more grind to keep people playing the game).

Play the game as intended, but then again maybe you are not good enough if you have to rely on gimmicks and exploits.

This game was intended not to have titles or grind, and be skill > time played.

That intention was borked up by Anet themselves, do people still not realise this?

The only thing that most players do now in GW is grind for points. That is how Anet have intended their game to be played since they added points to it. We need to get lots and lots of points now, so we look for the quickest way to do this.

This is how Anet have intended GW to be played since they started ruining it. Point farming in the fastest way possible is the new GW mechanic.

If you want to fix GW ...

- Remove all titles and point accumulation, just leave in fame as this was the original point grind system and at one time actually required skill.

- Remove PVE Skills and consumables.

- Remove Z chest. Remove Z coins.

People will no longer be playing the game just to grind points as quickly as they can, and the whole game will die as players will just leave because nothing is interesting enough as Anet intended it to be played without grind.

Well Anet intened for it to be played casually so I think the players had a hand in forcing them to include "grind reards" (such as titles) due to the constant playing.

Don't blame mechanics of the game for a situation created by players. Nothing says you have to earn titles as quickly as possible. Players who have this insane urge to do all as fast as possible are also those who complain that GW has become boring and they have nothing to do. Players should learn deferred gratification over instant gratification.

This is absolutely hilarious, it's like BBC's "points of view" where people TRY to find things to complain about.

If hero battles are so uninteresting players decide to base the outcome of a match on a /roll, it would seem that hero battles should be removed, not /roll.

But seriously people have been complaining about how bad hero battles are for ages, why are they shown on observer? I don't think I know anyone that actually watches them. Heroes should be removed from all formats of PvP. TA matches should be observable over hero battles anyday.
